Digital twin technology can simulate real-world scenarios to predict outcomes. Orion helped a biotech firm transform research efficiency through an AI-powered digital twins solution on Google Cloud.
The client is a UK-based biotechnology research firm focused on making healthcare more accessible through protein research.
Challenge
The client needed a technology partner to develop a solution that would improve the quality and efficiency of their protein research and experiments. The solution should enable them to easily create, configure, and monitor experiments running on remote protein printer devices.
Solution
Orion partnered with the client to develop a cloud-based Digital Twin solution hosted on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This solution integrates Vertex AI pipelines to predict protein structures and improve experimental accuracy and outcomes.
The solution also features a multitenancy architecture, which provides the client with the ability to manage devices and control users access for creating, configuring, and tracking experiment results.
Our engineers developed both the backend and web front-end environments, utilizing a modern tech stack that includes GCP, Services-Based Architecture, Kong, Keycloak, Kubernetes, Java, Micronaut, React, TypeScript, and Gitlab CI/CD.
Impact
The Digital Twin solution improved experiment management for the client, providing an intuitive interface to create, configure, and track experiments across multiple protein printer devices. It enhanced the user experience, increased operational efficiency, and enabled the client to accelerate their research goals.
