The client is a major North American sports league that has been around for close to 150 years and with revenue north of $10 billion. Orion has had a relationship with the client for over 18 years.   

Challenge

The client managed league operations and logistics for a substantial number of events across a continent, including games, galas, and conferences. Despite the scale and complexity of their operations, they relied on disconnected, manual legacy systems for critical credentialing and event management functions. This resulted in significant operational inefficiencies, administrative burden, and limited visibility across their event portfolio. 

Solution

Orion was brought in to digitize and streamline the client’s legacy systems. We developed a proprietary platform, the Orion Credentialing Platform, featuring dedicated, purpose-built modules tailored to their operational needs. The platform enabled the client to manage every aspect of game day and event operations digitally, from registration and badge printing to access control and real-time reporting. By replacing fragmented manual processes with a unified digital system, we dramatically reduced administrative overhead while improving operational control and stakeholder experience. 

Impact

The Orion Credentialing Platform now powers the client’s entire game day operations across more than 2,500 events annually. The system manages credentialing for over 48,000 individuals across the league, printing between 1,000 and 5,000 badges per event for VIPs, staff, and media, with major events requiring more than 10,000 credentials. The platform has transformed operational efficiency, enabling the client to scale seamlessly while maintaining rigorous security and delivering a premium experience for all stakeholders.
